Empowering Ugandan Girls Through Education

Join us in supporting girls' education and bright futures.
The Ugandan Girls Scholarship Foundation was established in 2005 with one smart young girl named Eunice, a headmaster who cared, and a conversation that they had with our founder Sheri Brake. That conversation spurred an e-mail back to Canada, an outpouring of support, and our first three students being awarded scholarships. At that time school in Uganda was only free until grade 6, and young girls in rural communities had little chance of continuing school.
The Ugandan Girls Scholarship Foundation has supported 43 girls through middle school, high school and college or university. The majority of our scholarship recipients come from the Budondo subcounty, just outside of Jinja, Uganda, and, once financial need was established, were chosen to receive a scholarship based on academic merit alone. We work with talented young women who have proven to us, that with a little support, there is no limit to what they can accomplish. We are so proud to have had this opportunity to impact their lives and their communities.
As a registered charity our success is possible only through the support of friends, family and like-minded individuals who have embraced our grassroots approach to empowering women, and supporting under-resourced communities. Your ongoing support from the very beginning is both humbling and inspiring.
Additionally, we succeed only through the efforts of our dedicated and tireless Board of Directors
Sheri Brake
Donna Fraser
Stacy Sargent
Martin Muyomba
and of the incredible generosity and effort of our Ugandan Liaison,
Paul Mulondo.
Thank you for the trust you have put in us, and the support you continue to show year after year.
Together, we are making a difference!
The Ugandan Girls Scholarship Foundation is dedicated to providing educational opportunities for girls in Uganda. We believe that every girl deserves the chance to succeed and make a difference in their community.
